An obstinate and scornful person who was the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him has been declared by Allah SWT from the time of the first few revelations in mecca that he will perish and his work or what his hands send forth will perish with him. This is a statement of fact as he obstructed, tormented and hindered the work of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. He was someone who scorned and hated the Prophet peace be upon him merely because the Prophet peace be upon him brought the truth that destroys the falsehood of shirk. Even though they and their forefathers believed it to be something worthwhile whereas the mushriks are entirely without intellect and insult their own intelligence and the religion of Allah merely for reasons such as wealth, status, power, influence or what their forefathers were upon.
They thought their wealth and their worldly gains i.e. their offspring would be enough to ransom them from the punishment of Allah on the day of qiyama. Yet Allah does not bargain on the day of judgement with those upon shirk and any deal that a person wants to make with Allah has to be upon tawhid on earth before death. It matters not if you have all the wealth on the entire earth it will not be able to avail you any way out of the fires of hell in the hereafter if a person dies upon shirk.
So Abu Lahab the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is an example of all those people who scorn, hate and revile the messenger of Allah and also the deen and even those who take Allah as an enemy. They will perish so will their work from what their hands send forth and they will be in a blazing burning evil fire of jahannum in the hereafter.
Along with Abu Lahab his wife who supported him against the messenger of Allah will be helping Abu Lahab taste the torment of the fire just as she too will be in the torment around her neck will be a rope of palm fire, in other words she and her husband will be punished eternally in the hellfire with severe torment of the burning evil fires of jahannum, this is a reminder to the enemies of Islam that they and their supporters who revile, hate and despise the cause of Islam, its noble messenger Muhammad peace be upon him will suffer the similar fate.
Where no wealth or wordly gain will be able to save them on the day of Qiyama a most heavy and dreadful day that is waiting for everyone to place those according to the justice of Allah that those people of hellfire into jahannum and those of the people of paradise into Jannah.
So the enemies of Islam will perish so will their work and they will be in an eternal torment as this is the decree of Allah, as victory is Allahs and the messengers, the Prophets of Allah peace be upon all of them.
