Allah guides whom He wills and those who are misguided can only be guided by Allah. Whom so Allah guides no one can misguide and whom so is misguided it is through the will of Allah as Allah knows best who is worthy of guidance.
Allah SWT states in the Quran that those people who struggle for Allah cause, working day and night in the path or the way of islam, spending each moment as much as possible within the boundaries of the shariah, providing the means to fulfill the rights of Allah and also making sure to fulfill the rights of the creation. Those people who spend all their time within these limits are actually free and Allah provides the means for them to be guided to His way.
A person knows the rights of Allah and this is the foundation of the purposes of shariah. Within a persons potential and ability that is provided by Allah SWT a person can set themselves towards fulfilling all the rights of Allah on a day to day basis the most important aspect being on the Oneness of Allah tawhid and its various forms.
Then maintaining the five obligatory prayers, fasting in Ramadan and paying the zakat annually if applicable, those that can afford to perform the Hajj pilgrimage must do so at least once in their life time. By fulfilling these five criteria on a day to day basis with sincere devotion and faithfulness based on truthfulness a person has achieved a mighty step towards seeking the forgiveness and mercy of Allah SWT.
The rights of the creation has its due measure and proportionate obligations with regards to first of all your Parents, wife, siblings and children, the neighbours, then maintaining ties of kinship and then those in the community. All these people have rights over you and you have rights over them, meaning that a person has to treat their parents with mercy and kindness and love as they are both a means to attaining the paradise particularly the mother. Then your wife or husband has rights over you to be looked after, cared for, loved and provide clothing, food and shelter for the wife and the means to fulfill your marital obligations.
The children have their own rights to be cared for, loved and also provide the same as for the wife, and it is important to bring them up on the path of islam providing advice, discipline and enjoyable family activities that remind them of their reason for what it is they are upon this earth as a trust and to enjoy playing and learning within the halal framework, as these aspects are one of the purposes of shariah, protection of life, deen, property, intellect and lineage. So within your capacity to work within the environment that Allah provides for everyone in the family.
Neighbours have their due rights so much so that it is not permissible to let them go hungry if they are finding it difficult to obtain their due rizq. And maintaining ties of kinship within the capacity to ensure that all relatives are reminded of their way of life, the lifestyle of living upon islam. Similarly, those people you interact with in society whether it’s the immediate community or upon travels, alongwith looking after to the best of your capacity and reminding them of the purpose of life. Dawah is necessary starting from your family to the community to where your reach is possible. This brings people together as the deen is how people remember Allah and the reason why they are here on this dunya, whereas if a person shirks their duties and responsibilities they will regret their actions and words particularly if it is found to be of no moral value or truthfulness with regards to maintaining virtue and excellence.
Even the environment and other creatures of Allah have their due rights and to be looked after and cared for as they are a means for why the rain falls on the earth in its due proportion because if it were left for humans the burden would be so great that there would be no rain sent down other than what Allah wills.
So within the fulfilling of the rights of Allah and the creation a person that works goodness with regards to righteousness particularly where one is treated with ill or contempt by people in society, righteousness is only actually achieved when one responds in goodness to those with ill behavior. Allah SWT has said that he is with the doers of good, and that they are rewarded for their truthfulness and actions with the guidance of Allah struggling in His cause and shown the correct way by Allah and this leads to the greatest success which is seeking and seeing the face of Allah and provided with homes beneath which rivers flow in the gardens of Jannah, where there is no grief, sorrow, or ill speech or behavior and a person is free and protected from the fire of the punishment of Allah the hellfire of Jahannum. Seeing the face of Allah will be the greatest blessing and this is only reserved for the people of Jannah.
