The last two ayats of surah Baqarah are a supplication and also they affirm and provide protection and seek to suffice when a person recited them at night before going to sleep meaning that reciting these two ayats gives everything mentioned above and the other aspects and attributes of these two ayats which are going to be mentioned below.
Allah swt says that the noble messenger Muhammad peace be upon him and the believers firmly believe with certainty in what has been revealed to the Prophet Peace be upon him, that is every single ayat of the Quran in its entirety. The believer believes in Allah, the angels, the books of Allah and all the prophets messengers of Allah upon them all be peace. The believers proclaim that there is no distinction between any of Allahs messengers and that they were all sound, righteous, God fearing, noble and pious people who were given revelation to guide their people. The various books of Allah the Tawrah, the Zaboor, the Injeel and the Quran along with scrolls that were revealed to Ibrahim upon him be peace and other revelation which we do not know about that were given to the Prophets upon them all be peace, they are all believed in by the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and the believers.
The believers state that we hear and we obey meaning when they hear the Quran, they accept and obey the various commands, rulings, lessons and various instructions that Allah SWT tells the people through the ayats verses of the Quran. And that the believers seek the forgiveness of Allah and know that to Allah is the final return.
These last two ayats of Surah Baqarah were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him when he ascended to the heavenly paradise and the given three gifts, the five prayers a day, the last two ayats of surah Baqarah and forgiveness for his people who do not associate anyone or anything in worship with Allah SWT.
So in this supplication we understand that Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford meaning that which any soul has the potential to observe and follow from their ability to fulfill the commands of Allah. Any good that a person does it does so for their own benefit and any evil that a person does is to its own loss. The understanding of this is that people are tested with good and evil and if they live a goodly life, remain firm in belief upon the oneness of Allah and all the above already mentioned criteria of belief in the books, the angels, the messengers of Allah that they will benefit from such a life, whereas any evil that their heart suggests and they act upon they will be in loss to their own selves. If a person finds that they are closer to Allah than it is a test and trial from Allah otherwise that which takes a person away from the closeness of Allah that test becomes a punishment for them in this world. The believers pray to Allah asking Allah not to punish them if they forget an obligatory duty or make a mistake of falling into error by acting on that which is prohibited. And the believers proclaim to Allah to not place upon them a burden like the burden that was placed on previous nations particularly the Jews and the Christians.
For the law of the Quran abrogated the difficulties and trials of the previous nations, their scripture and their laws and the commands and rulings, and prohibitions and instructions replace and abrogate meaning the previous scriptures laws are no longer valid and have been updated with the latest edition of the law of the Quran and this law of the Quran will remain till the day of judgement.
So the burdens, difficulties, trials and hardships that the Jews and Christians have to undergo that was placed on them before the Quran was revealed was a difficult and heavy burden that we seek Allah to not place upon the believers and not to burden a soul, with more than what it can bear. Meaning very believer has their own burden and we seek Allahs help and guidance to not be overwhelmed and have the ability to manage and lighten the burden by following the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and word of Allah the Quran. Every person is given a burden only what they can bear for some its greater for others its less. So the believers ask and supplicate to Allah to pardon us for our mistakes, to forgive us and have mercy on us for only Allah is the guardian and protector of the believers. Allah is the supporter, helper and complete trust is in Allah for the believer and there is no power or strength except from Allah and finally we seek Allahs help for victory over the disbelieving people, the disbelievers there is eventually only loss and punishment as this is way Allah SWT has said many times in the Quran that the disbelieving folks will be at a loss in the hereafter and their abode is a place of torment. So in this life and the hereafter victory is Allahs and his chosen messengers upon them all be peace and for the believers for it is the will power and might of Allah that has certainty of victory over the disbelievers.
