Allah SWT takes an oath and swears by the city of Mecca, this sanctified sacred place that was ordained at the time and heavens and the earth were created, that it would be a sacred holy place where neither fighting in battle takes place other than what was given permission for a short time to the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him during the conquest of Mecca and even then that conquest was without bloodshed.
Allah SWT mentions how the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was subject to abuse while on his Prophetic mission by the inhabitants of Mecca from not just the elders but even the young ones. And that every human has been created in constant struggle meaning first a baby is held in the womb with difficulty, then the mother bears with hardship the birth and then with difficult breast feeds and nurses the baby and when the child grows up it seeks its livelihood with difficult struggling and working to attaining it provision. This constant struggle is something humans are born into created to suffer and struggle to attain mastery.
People think that no one has power over them as they boast about spending abundance of wealth stating we wasted so much of the wealth that we earned. They behave as though no one sees them yet Allah SWT is witness over every soul on earth and the nobles scribes the angels, vigilant and recording every word every action of humans.
Allah SWT states that did we not give humans two eyes to see with and a tongue to speak with so that a person could express what is within themselves and two lips which help with eating food, speaking and it beautifies the face its form and structure. And that Allah SWT showed humans inspired them of two paths right and wrong.
Yet most people are averse and do not take the challenging path of goodness. This the reason being that the shaitan the devil has beautified evil to them and that the challenging path of goodness most people do not undertake this duty due to its difficult nature. So Allah SWT questions what do you know or realise the challenging path of goodness is. Examples are given like freeing a slave as a person is protected or freed from the hellfire for every limb of freeing a slave like for like. Another example is when a person is in extreme hunger and there is even a famine yet he still gives away food to feed others in hunger and need. Or the support or charity to an orphaned relative, giving charity to a non relative has a single reward but charity at home or to an orphaned relative gives twice the reward, that which is given and maintaining the ties of kinship. Or helping and alleviating a poor person in distress for removing difficulties and hardships of people will bring Allah to remove the difficulties for a person on the day of judgement.
And Allah SWT urges people to believe and urge one another to perseverance and compassion being erciful to one another for those who do not show mercy to other people, then Allah SWT will not show mercy to them on the day of judgement. These people who have faith, persevere and are compassionate and are merciful with one another are people of the right.
Whereas those people who deny the signs of Allah and are obstinate disbelievers or are ungrateful to the favours of Allah and what Allah has permitted these are people of the left and prepared for them is a place of terrible punishment the abode of the hellfire where they will be sealed in with no light, no escape, no way out and will remain shut within the torment and painful punishment for eternity. This is the recompense of the people of the left, a person in disbelief will remain therein forever.
