One of the first few characters to appear in Hotel 99, a mysterious place where each room leads to another space, time and world amongst the lands prevalent within earth and even beyond.
Wong Fei Hung
The name is familiar amongst many Chinese households, a character that was trained by his father in martial arts and healing practices of traditional medicine. Born in the year 1847 in a place called Foshan, Guangdong in the Qing Dynasty. His father a famous martial artist and healer trained him that by the time he became a teenager he was giving public martial arts demonstrations.
He perfected and mastered the Hung Ga style which had its roots in strength, stances and flowing hand techniques specializing in the power of the tiger and gracefulness of a crane he created the No Shadow Kick a kick so fast and deceptive that it became legendary whenever someone needed a kick to the head.
He also practiced lion dance forms of martial arts in terms of using them for celebration and combat training. As a healer he founded the clinic Po Chi Lam and treated many people that were of poor health and enriched them with the use of herbal medicine, that made him start to teach the arts of healing and fighting as a means to ensure safety and protection to the community during political crisis times. He strongly believed in breath control for internal power cultivation with animal inspired movements with emphasis on morality and discipline with humility over aggression and brute force that carried destructive power but no grace or elegance as compared to the calmness of someone who brings strength with compassion.
He strongly believed that martial arts are a means for the welfare of the society not for personal pride or violent tendencies but to remove the harmful aspects of every persons whispers that make them perform evil acts. He wanted to instill virtue righteousness and humility with respect for others. This became his personal statement that martial arts are designed to stop violence not to create it. As this is one of the core teachings of an enlightened philosophical person who understands that Virtue particularly from fighting styles is something that never ends. Neither does the training or the fighting nor the virtue.
He was a strong advocate for balance the medium path of the existence of body mind and spirit mainting good health through disciplined living, good diet and internal energy cultivated through breath, movements and love and compassion for making other people feel better particularly due to his tragic own personal life within his first three marriages that ended all of them dying due to sickness or it is unclear about the third wife dying in an accident. Due to his personal struggles with love and life and the death of his first three wives he felt that perhaps he was cursed because despite all the knowledge of the healing arts and the martial arts he could not prevent the death of his beloved wives that resulted in him practicing even more how to improve a personal health wellbeing and overall happiness through personal struggles of his own and blending healing with martial arts. He strongly believed in education of morality something that he taught lessons alongside physical martial techniques.
It was during his fourth marriage that he found his wife to be a highly skilled devoted martial artist that became his best companion and soul mate teaching him and also being a student of his as this mutual beneficial relationship became the continuity of his legacy that she carried on even after his death.
He faced many challenges and difficulties with the destruction of his clinic multiple time during unrest because of social and political circumstances, this resulted in him losing his son in a political conflict which was a devastating blow to him. This resulted in depression and made him at the age of over 70 return to the earth leaving behind a legacy of fighting, healing and morality through virtue and compassion which has been the subject of many cultural values being taught in the places around China to this day where the legend lives on yet he faces a struggle for his people who know not the main values of his life example of living that faltered on the struggle for perfection in healing, martial arts and morality as these are all learned values that a person has to discover through living, something in the heart that speaks to each person. Yet the foundation of this is written in the creations that signs that are prevalent everywhere, yet the mystery is that the obvious character still found that at the end of his life, his enlightened vision and way was something worthwhile, exemplary and also flawed in the aspect that he knew not the Creator of the entire expanse of his knowledge, healing arts and where morality or virtue is found and based on. This is something that perhaps his students may discover that through understanding events and circumstances within not just dreams, but within life that is the dream to be played amongst the beings that love and make the world a much better place.
The fighting, training, healing, and virtue attained from all these requires the knowledge of the oneness of the Creator. Where it may be discovered within time that cultural values although important what is even greater is the knowledge backed by truth that the honest and compelling value of knowing and understanding remembering and applying what the One known as the Creator of all that exists is simply stating there is only 1 deity and that must not be associated with any of creation, otherwise there will be a time of great consequence that results in the destruction of even the mightiest of legends, a place that no one will want to be.
The life of Wong Fei Hung is a mighty lesson for those that have still not learnt why we are upon this earth. As Wong fulfilled his life on earth to the maximum capacity according to his way of life a great lesson for all the strength and fight that carries on to this day where there are many people striving upon the earth perhaps the popularity of skills that he mastered still requires others to know him so that they cannot make his mistakes but learn from his life and bring comedy into their families, that require strength of character yet down to earth humbleness that is only found in doing righteousness and having humility knowing that his healing arts where not just for physical, spiritual and mental health but also for attaining wisdom through sometimes facing his darkest fears that death is something not within his control yet he found on the fourth round the highly skilled martial artist that he finally beat to death, as she was meant to carry on his life through his legacy.
Virtue, morality and compassion within words and actions will set you free, within the belief of 1.
